A Green Bay man who for years made and sold fake IDs faces up to 25 years in prison.
Jacob A. Garcia-Urbano, 56, who has three aliases, pleaded guilty late last month in U.S. District Court to producing and selling fake driver’s licenses and Social Security cards.
He pleaded guilty to two counts in exchange for the dismissal of three related counts. He is scheduled for sentencing March 14.
Garcia-Urbano is also known as Jacob Garcia, Juan Rivera-Martinez and Antonio Domingo-Fabian, and he uses the nickname “Chilango.”
Upon his arrest, he told investigators he learned to produce fake identification documents in early 2000, when he was living in South Carolina. He moved to Green Bay several years ago and continued in the business of producing false documents, court documents say.
An informant told investigators in September he bought fraudulent documents from Garcia-Urbano and sold them for $20 to $30 per document, according to court documents.
The next day, agents arranged to have the informant supply Garcia-Urbano with photos and fabricated biographical information and to pay $450 for three sets of fraudulent documents. The purchase was made outside a Green Bay restaurant.
Agents confronted Garcia-Urbano in his home Oct. 8. He let them in the house, where they saw false ID documents in plain view. They got a search warrant, then found fake cards, bags of card stock, two computers, six printers and $4,750 in cash, court documents say.
They were able to determine the documents were fake because there were multiple cards for the same individual, and several of the cards were either blank on one side or had the same image on both sides.
Garcia-Urbanoalso faces a possible $500,000 fine and confiscation of the property agents seized when executing the search warrant on his home.
